Guidance on working at height
One of the biggest risks when installing a staircase is the risk of falling from the unprotected upper floor, which may cause serious injury or fatality.
Any edges where there is a risk of falling should be protected by the supplied guarding or balustrade, or alternatively by adequate temporary guarding until the final guarding is in place.
The BWF Stair Scheme recommends a temporary guarding system should be accredited to EN 13374:2004 (Temporary edge protection systems. Product specification. Test Methods.). See their Guide to Safe Stair Installation for more information: click here
