Our Trunking and CNC Joinery Operative role involves undertaking trunking duties and providing support with CNC operations as needed. Reporting to the Factory Manager, the position requires the individual to efficiently manage and organise trolleys in the trunking queue, perform daily maintenance tasks, and ensure the accuracy and quality of components. Additionally, the role includes assisting with CNC operations, such as loading materials, running pre-set programs, and maintaining high safety and quality standards and maintaining a tidy work area.

You will be responsible for:

Trunking Responsibilities

  • Use the trunking page on Bed Manager to determine the most urgently required components and arrange the relevant trolleys in the trunking queue
  • Perform daily checks, cleaning, and charging of the PPT
  • At the CNC, review all tasks on full or nearly full tread and riser trolleys to ensure the correct number of components are present; collect and scan any missing components to the relevant trolley if needed
  • Collect tread/riser/winder trolleys using the PPT and move them to the trunking queue
  • Double scan completed string trolleys and move them to the trunking queue
  • Collect machined feature treads from the CNC machines, rack them into a bullnose trolley, and move them to the trunking queue
  • Check the production string trolley at veneering; if anything is due or the trolley is more than half full, move it to the trunking queue and replace it with an empty one
  • Move full newel trolleys to the trunking queue with the assistance of the newel machine operator
  • Assist with veneering if required

CNC Responsibilities

  • Ensuring correct material is loaded to the machine
  • Loading pre-set programs from our internal system
  • Applying QR labels to machined components
  • Checking quality of the finished product and unloading from the machine
  • Manual handling of staircase components
  • Replacing cutters as required to ensure good quality components
  • Meeting production and quality targets
  • Operating within a fast-paced, efficient environment
  • Working safely - maintaining a high level of health and safety standards and keeping a tidy work area
