Throughout 2023, the StairBox team raised funds for Dougie Mac, a local charity who provide hospice services free of charge to people with life-limiting illnesses in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire.
First up was a charity football match against Wooden Windows, which alone raised over £14,000! As well as the big game, youth football teams took part in an U14s tournament, plus an auction and raffle were held featuring fabulous prizes donated by suppliers and local businesses.
The charity match was followed by a group of colleagues completing the Ultimate Peak District Challenge – a 20 mile hike along the Edale Skyline route in the Peak District. With a total ascent of 1252m, it’s beautiful but gruelling!
Other activities and events included a bake sale, No Shave November and Christmas Jumper Day. A number of the team spent time at the hospice itself helping maintain and plant up the gardens and grounds. And finally, colleagues donated a whopping 52 bags of items to Dougie Mac’s “Bag It, Bring It” initiative - donated goods help the charity to raise more than £5 million each year.
After a year jam-packed with fundraising and volunteering, the charity total was totted up and a reached a staggering £45,000, all thanks to the time and effort of StairBox colleagues.
